Le chantier de l'Hermione
In 1780, La Fayette left Rochefort on the Hermione for the United States of America. This ship is currently being rebuilt in Rochefort before the eyes of the public. Come and discover the work of the carpenters, blacksmiths, riggers, and other shipyard trades. Come and visit the interior of the ship before it is launched next month. Booking compulsory on: www.hermione.com

Restaurant Les longitudes
Opposite the Charente river, this building with arches used to serve as a guard room to shelter soldiers who were responsible for keeping watch over the arsenal. The restaurant offers an original lunch menu all year round (with regional dishes, seafood, etc) and welcomes individuals as well as groups (capacity of 60 people + 30 people in two rooms on reservation).
Tel: 05 46 87 56 15.

The Rope Factory shop
An invitation to escape through the theme of the sea, voyages or the navy. An exotic taste thanks to the coffees, teas, sugars and chocolates coming from all over the world as well as a vast choice of rare spices that make you think of the scent of islands. Here, the maritime spirit is within everyone’s reach: marine deco, table art, clothes, jewellery, small items of furniture, paintings and souvenirs made in Corderie Royale.

The Maritime Bookshop
Designed in the shape of a boat’s hull under construction, the Maritime Bookshop has a unique collection of 8 000 titles, covering all types of maritime works: from books for young people to specialist reviews, not forgetting art books, poetry, cartoons, History, etc. The Maritime Bookshop welcomes some 300 000 visitors each year and attracts a wide range of people from walkers desiring to find out more about the Royal Rope Factory to keen readers of ocean literature.
