The Centre International de la Mer (International Center of the Sea) invites you to the Ropery, its multiple attractions and other nearby locations to visit. You will find here informations on the different locations as well as an Q&A for you to see. The Royal Ropery offers the opportunity to visit using an audio-guide (and it’s free!)
A visit to the ropery will first allow you to discover its history and purpose in the Arsenal since its construction in 1666 by king Louis XIV thanks to an 18 minutes long immersive audiovisual performance.
Following this, you’ll be able to discover our permanent exhibition as well as the temporary one.
The permanent exhibition will turn you into an rope expert! From the cultivation of the raw material to its final transformation, you’ll discover the different works and activities that were necessary for the good functioning of the Ropery’s activity through different experiences awakening the senses: touch manipulations, image projections, edutainment machines…
